History

 

The company was founded in 1924 by Otto Steinhart in Krumbach in central Swabia. In 1930, the company moved to its current location at Buchstraße 20.

The first generational change took place in 1956, when Otto Steinhart's descendants, the brothers Siegfried, Walter and Helmut, took over the management of the company.

Due to the constantly increasing need for space as a result of the growing number of workers and employees, as well as the increasing production capacity, neighbouring properties were purchased over the following years and the company premises were expanded step by step. In order to optimise logistics, a large, modern warehouse was built in neighbouring Niederraunau in 1982.

Peter and Michael Steinhart, Siegfried Steinhart's children, heralded the next generational change on 1 January 1995 and took over the company.

The increasing demand for Steinhart candles and hand-decorated goods led to the opening of another production facility in Piotrkow, a town near Lodz in Poland, in 1998. This second site, which now employs 150 people, produces the entire Steinhart candle range.

At the Krumbach site, the development department realises the annually changing trends. The quality of the individual products is the top priority. The finishing process is partly automatic and partly manual, which is necessary for many of the tasks and characterises the handcrafted appeal of the candles.
Peter Steinhart is the managing partner and, together with his two children Stephanie and Philipp, holds all the shares in the family business.
